Training & Starting

When it comes to training, D.J. creates an atmosphere through respect and trust where horses feel safe and free of anxiety. Getting them ready to learn is as important as the learning itself. D.J. works through pressure and release of pressure with horses he is training, and lets the horses find answers to his questions on their own.

Judging

D.J. holds his senior hunter card and small r recorded jumper card. He has judged across North America, including Michigan, Texas, Winnipeg, Quebec, and all over Ontario.

Line Preparation & Showing

The journey from the start of preparing a young horse through to being shown in hand is not linear. D.J. takes his time and exhibits unwavering patience while training young horses from start to finish. Preference is shown to clients that undertake a few training sessions prior to showing, as D.J. prefers to build a relationship with the horse.

Custom Rope Halters

D.J. prefers to use rope halters because it allows him to control his use of pressure through feel more accurately. They help him to apply and release pressure consistently. D.J. creates his own custom fit halters, and can be tailored to your horse’s needs and size.

Shipping & Problem Loaders

D.J. has been boasted for his unlimited patience with difficult or problem loaders. Whether you are looking for assistance loading your horse onto your own trailer or looking for shipping, D.J. creates a safe space for horses with a fear of loading.

Clinics & Lessons

From hunter, jumper, or equitation based clinics, to clinics “in the judge’s eye”, to clinics on handling, D.J. offers a wide variety of informational sessions. D.J. will travel throughout Ontario, including northern Ontario, as well as adjacent parts of the USA and QC.

Show Preparation

D.J. believes the correct way in lunging and show preparation comes from calming and centring the horse’s focus, not by tiring them out. He reads their body language to know exactly when they are ready to perform their best. D.J. is available at select shows in Ontario for show preparation, based on a timed schedule.
